Wishes Do Come True

Mar 21, 2018

Carol Leith hadn’t been to the beach in years, mainly due to her failing health. What she wanted most of all was to spend some time, oceanside, with her two girlfriends and cousin to laugh, eat seafood and forget about her worries. Thanks to Hospice of Frederick County and the Dream Foundation, Carol’s wish came true.

Carol had been cooped up in her bedroom for months due to the progression of her illness, increased weakness and pain management issues. Hospice staff and volunteers were able to help Carol feel much better physically and emotionally and helped her manage her pain to make a trip to the beach possible.

Carol spent four nights at a hotel in Ocean City, Maryland, with a room facing the ocean and a balcony to enjoy the view. While there, she ate her favorite beach food, crab legs, and spent wonderful quality time with people she loves.
