Apr 11, 2018

Hospice of Frederick County now offers Music Therapy to our patients and families to enhance physical and emotional comfort through specialized, clinical interventions with a credentialed professional. Pain Management, respiratory comfort, procedural support, and self-expression are some of the goals our music therapist can address along with live music listening, music making, lyric analysis, songwriting, and verbal processing.

Delaplaine Foundation, Inc. with two of their funding focuses being the arts and health, granted $21,570 to help support Hospice of Frederick County’s Music Therapy Program. “The Delaplaine family is a cornerstone of the Frederick community. Their philanthropy and generosity have left an indelible mark on our community. We are honored to have their support for our music therapy program. Thanks to their generosity, the healing touch of music can now be employed to enrich the experiences of our patients and families.” said Carlos Graveran, Executive Director, Hospice of Frederick County.

“We are pleased to partner with Hospice of Frederick County in providing grant funding for the Music Therapy program to enhance the critical services they provide that bring compassionate, caring, comfort to their clients. We believe strongly in the power of music in reducing anxiety, assisting in pain management and positively impacting body, mind and spirit”, said Delaplaine Foundation President Marlene Young.

The program will be provided at no charge to any Hospice of Frederick County patient fitting the criteria and is solely funded by charitable donations.
